Magomed Aliboulatovitch Ankalaev is a Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter competing in the light-heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born on June 2, 1992 in Makhatchkala, Republic of Dagestan, Russia, he is of Avar descent. Before taking up MMA, Ankalaev practiced sambo, a discipline in which he excelled, winning several national competitions.
