Magomed Aliboulatovitch Ankalaev is a Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter competing in the light-heavyweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Born on June 2, 1992 in Makhatchkala, Republic of Dagestan, Russia, he is of Avar descent. Before taking up MMA, Ankalaev practiced sambo, a discipline in which he excelled, winning several national competitions.

Ankalaev began his professional MMA career in 2014. He joined the UFC in March 2018, where he suffered a defeat in his first fight against Paul Craig. However, he quickly bounced back with an impressive winning streak, positioning him as one of the top contenders for the light-heavyweight title.
